AUSTIN (KXAN) - Months of extreme and unusual weather may have you on edge, but experts with NASA are saying these extremes are exactly what they expect to happen. "These kinds of changes: extreme snowfall, extreme droughts, extreme heat waves, that's very consistent with what we've expected from climate change," said Lesley Ott, a climate scientist with NASA.According to Ott, this "weirding of the weather" with more extreme and frequent weather is a result of the planet warming due to human-driven climate change. It's always hard for us to tie any one particular event to climate change," Ott explained. "But scientists have predicted for a number of decades that the way that we would experience climate change is through these changes in in extremes."Studying the planet from spaceSince i...Albany County Sheriff K9 missing

(NEXSTAR) - Residents living in more than a dozen U.S. states have the chance to see the Northern Lights on Sunday thanks to recent activity on the Sun.A coronal mass ejection and a minor solar flare happened Friday night, according to NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center. In addition to sparking a geomagnetic storm watch through Monday, the solar activity means the Northern Lights will be visible as far south as Nebraska and Iowa. Coronal mass ejections, or CMEs, are explosions of plasma and magnetic material from the Sun that can reach Earth in as little as 15 to 18 hours, NOAA explains. Slower CMEs, like the one observed Friday, can take days to impact us. While both solar flares and CMEs (which can occur at the same time) can impact navigation, communication and radio signals on Earth, CMEs are able to create a stunning show in the night sky. According to NASA, CMEs can create currents in Earth's magnetic fields that send particles to the North and South Poles. After a recent attack on the Bryansk region in southern Russia by a group of gunmen, public attention is focused on Russian nationalists. The "Russian Volunteer Corps" that carried out this intervention is headed by 38-year-old Denis Nikitin.Who is it? The Financial Times calls Nikitin (his real name Kapustin) a well-known extremist and neo-Nazi. He was born and raised in Russia, and in 2001 he moved to Cologne, Germany. There, Nikitin became interested in mixed martial arts (MMA) and befriended local football hooligans involved in stadium fights. By 2007, Nikitin returned to Russia and became a member of the FC CSKA ultra fans. As he himself admitted at the time, he did not like football, did not know a single player of the club, but loved scuffles and adrenaline.Nikitin is famous for his nationalist clothing brand White Rex. It was created on August 14, 2008 - this date hints at the well-known Nazi code 14/88. Monday marks the 108th anniversary of the beginnings of the Armenian Genocide, and in Southern California, protesters took to the streets to commemorate the tragedy and to call for Azerbaijan to unblock the Lachin corridor. Referred to by some as the first genocide of the 20th century, the Armenian Genocide killed between 664,000 and 1.2 million Armenians "either in massacres and individual killings, or from systematic ill treatment, exposure, and starvation," according to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. Other estimates, including by Israeli historians Benny Morris and Dror Ze'evi, put the number of those killed as high as 1.5 million.Turkey has refused to recognize the killings by the Ottoman Empire, its predecessor, as a genocide. While the past is still an open wound for many Armenians, the ongoing events in their homeland have many concerned about the welfare and safety of their people.A torchlight procession marches during a demonstration in Yerevan, Armenia, Sunday...Black bear digs through trash in Monrovia
