A Denver brewery is planning to close later this summer after what the owner calls a “tough five years” brewing and serving beer in the Mile High City.Judd Belstock, owner and founder of Dos Luces Brewery, announced the closure via social media Monday, and while he doesn’t have a firm closing date, he plans to celebrate the business’ fifth anniversary on July 29 before closing up shop.Belstock’s decision comes several months after a car crashed into Dos Luces’ storefront at 1236 S. Broadway in Denver.“The car crashing into the brewery was one of those ‘aha’ moments,” Belstock told The Denver Post. “Like, do I really want to spend my life dealing with insurance companies and cleaning up dust? The day-to-day of running a taproom was wearing on me particularly.”Opened in 2018, Dos Luces Brewery quickly garnered attention for its unique offerings, including Mexican and South American alcoholic beverages like chicha, tepache and pulque — all of which date back to pre-Co...Boy, 14, uses stolen cars to burglarize Torrance businesses, police say

Published Fri, 15 Nov 2024 06:24:28 GMT
Twitter users who follow the official McDonald’s account were greeted with a nostalgic sight on Monday: the large purple face of Grimace — bug-eyed and nearly expressionless — staring directly back at them.McDonald’s ultimately revealed that Grimace is back to promote its upcoming “Grimace Birthday Meal,” which comes complete with a brand-new (and very purple) berry-vanilla shake. There’s just one thing McDonald’s declined to fully explain: Just what the heck are we looking at, here?Grimace, by McDonald’s own admission, is an “ambiguous” blob of a mascot. Introduced in 1971 as “Evil Grimace,” the character was first depicted as a villain — with four arms — who was singularly focused on stealing McDonald’s milkshakes, as seen in early TV commercials.Over the years, Grimace eventually lost his mad lust for milkshakes (and two of his arms) and became best buds with Ronald McDonald.Grimace apparently resides in Malibu, stands at 9 feet tall, and is legally permitted to operate ...Get Garbage and Gallagher to the Greek

Get Garbage and Gallagher to the Greek: Quite the double bill, this one. Shirley Manson, Butch Vig and co. return to L.A. with their ‘90s electro-alt-rock outfit Garbage, alongside former Oasis man Noel Gallagher and his High Flying Birds. Rumors are, ahem, flying around that Oasis will be reforming sooner rather than later, but this will very much do for now. Metric also perform. June 2 saw Gallagher’s High Flying Birds release new album Council Skies. “It’s going back to the beginning,” he said in a statement. “Daydreaming, looking up at the sky and wondering about what life could be … that’s as true to me now as it was in the early ‘90s. When I was growing up in poverty and unemployment, music took me out of that. Top of the Pops on TV transformed your Thursday night into this fantasy world, and that’s what I think music should be. I want my music to be elevating and transforming in some way.”Get Garbage and Gallagher to the Greek: The event takes place at 7 p.m...Woman shot multiple times while sitting in car in Oakland
