New Mexico governor issues order suspending the right to carry firearms in public across Albuquerque SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Friday issued an emergency order suspending the right to carry firearms in public across Albuquerque and the surrounding county for at least 30 days in response to a spate of gun violence.The Democratic governor said she expects legal challenges but was compelled to act in response to gun deaths, including the fatal shooting of an 11-year-old boy outside a minor league baseball stadium this week.The firearms suspension, classified as an emergency public health order, applies to open and concealed carry in most public place, from city sidewalks to urban recreational parks.The restriction is tied to a threshold for violent crime rates currently only met by the Albuquerque area. Firefighter injured battling Schenectady blaze SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A firefighter was injured while battling a fire on Webster Street in Schenectady. The call for the fire came in just after 1 p.m. Friday. New detection system for Glenridge Road bridge Everyone got out of the home without injuries. Two family pets did not survive. Officials said one firefighter sustained minor injuries and was taken to Ellis Hospital. They were treated and released.The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Officials said the main home sustained heavy damage. Neighboring homes were also damaged. The Red Cross is helping six people who lived in the home.

St. Louis woman's lengthy struggle for a new garbage dumpster finally resolved ST. LOUIS - A south St. Louis resident has been struggling to get a new city garbage dumpster for nearly a year. Diana Yenne says she’s just run into brick walls. ”There's this big hole in the bottom of the dumpster, and trash has been spilling out through the alley when it gets emptied," said Yenne. "It attracts rats, mice, feral cats, and other wildlife. It causes mosquitoes and stuff back here, and there’s an odor.”  She’s been calling the City of St. Louis since last October.
