Blaze at Eagan battery recycling plant early Sunday draws fire crews from 12 municipalities A five-alarm fire that broke out at an Eagan lead battery recycling facility early Sunday drew firefighters from 12 municipalities and was under control as of late Sunday morning, authorities said.No injuries were reported in the blaze that erupted about 5 a.m. within the roof in a main building at the Gopher Resource Recycling Facility at 685 Yankee Doodle Rd., Eagan Deputy Fire Chief Kip Springer said.The facility is near the intersection of Yankee Doodle and Dodd roads, and the latter briefly closed as firefighters responded. While it’s too soon to say for sure, Denver’s chances for a white Christmas aren’t looking good, according to National Weather Service meteorologists.The National Weather Service defines a white Christmas as having one inch of snow on the ground by 5 a.m., when forecasters post morning measurements and weather outlooks.With a warm and dry week ahead for the Denver metro area, the chances of snow falling on or before Christmas are slim, NWS meteorologist Zach Hiris said.The Denver metro can expect daily high temperatures to hover around the upper 50s and lower 60s this week, according to NWS forecasters. 5-year-old dead in fatal car crash near Martinez, driver arrested (KRON) – A five-year-old child is dead after a solo vehicle traffic crash on westbound Highway 4 near Morello Avenue around 12:06 a.m. on Dec. 17, the California Highway Patrol of Contra Costa announced Sunday. According to the preliminary investigation, a grey Honda CR-V occupied by one adult driver and two children was traveling westbound on Highway 4. The driver lost control of the vehicle.
