After hosting a number of voluntary workouts over the past month or so, the Vikings will make attendance mandatory this week.It will be interesting to see which players show up Tuesday when the Vikings descend upon TCO Performance Center for minicamp, as well as on Wednesday when they break for the summer. No doubt the biggest names to keep an eye on are star edge rusher Danielle Hunter and star receiver Justin Jefferson. Rebecca Wang was just 7 years old the first time it happened. She remembers vividly her teacher’s panicked face, and her urgent voice telling Rebecca and her classmates to keep quiet, hide behind their desks and stay calm. They were barricaded in a Northern California classroom for four hours until police found the man who’d run across their campus with a gun. Wang didn’t understand what was going on, but when they finally walked outside, her entire family was waiting — and they looked terrified.“It was pure chaos,” said Wang, now 17. “We didn’t really know what was going on, but we knew the teachers were scared out of their minds.”After 10 years of waiting for things to change, Wang — a rising senior at San Jose’s Gunderson High — decided to take things into her own hands. This summer, she and three friends will be refining SIREN, an artificial intelligence device they’ve trained to detect gunshots and instantly communicate with all students, staff members and teachers at an affected...

Chicago Bears Q&A: What are some key matchups to watch?

Published Wed, 26 Feb 2025 17:53:44 GMT

The Chicago Bears wrapped up their third week of organized team activities ahead of mandatory minicamp next week. What matchups should we be watching? And will the Bears finally sign an edge rusher? Brad Biggs addresses concerns in his weekly mailbag. What are some key matchups we should be paying attention to in minicamp and training camp? — @just_acyI don’t know that there are a lot of matchups that are super intriguing at training camp. Obviously you want to see how wide receiver DJ Moore performs when the pads come on and he’s competing against cornerbacks. I am talking specifically about work where it is starters versus starters. Moore facing the second-team cornerbacks doesn’t generate a ton of intrigue for me. It would be concerning (from an offensive standpoint, anyway) if the current group of edge rushers had a ton of success against the starting offensive tackles.Maybe more interesting will be the few battles for starting spots. I don’t know if it’s surprising how many firs...
