Man drowns in ocean off Pacifica beach

(KRON) -- A man drowned in the ocean Wednesday despite lifesaving efforts from good Samaritans who pulled him out of the water and performed CPR on the beach, Pacifica police said.Pacifica Police Department officers and North County Fire Authority paramedics were alerted at 11:05 a.m. of a possible drowning. Emergency crews arrived one minute later and found a man unconscious and not breathing on Pacifica Esplanade Beach."Officers found members of the community administering CPR to the subject who hadbeen pulled from the surf," police wrote. Paramedics continued giving the victim CPR, but they were unable to revive him. The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office is working to confirm the victim's identity. This investigation is ongoing. (KRON) -- A Santa Rosa man was found in possession of stolen mail, checks and other items connected to fraud on Sunday afternoon, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office. BART worker arrested after fatal hit-and-run in South SF Around 3:30 p.m., deputies were called to the 4300 block of Stony Point Road when a resident saw someone apparently passed out in a car on private property nearby. The deputy spoke with the man in the car but he did not have identification with him and seemed to be under the influence of drugs. The man was later identified as 26-year-old Benjamin Ulysses Brass of Santa Rosa. When dispatch checked local records, officials found that Brass was on probation for four separate court cases. One of his probation terms requires that he obey all laws and also submit to warrantless search and seizure, the sheriff's office said. DENVER (KDVR) -- Winds near Denver International Airport on Wednesday caused the Federal Aviation Administration to order a ground stop, with hundreds of flights diverting to other airports.Later, at 6:11 p.m., the FAA ordered a second ground stop due to snow and ice at the airport. This stop is expected to last until around 7:30 p.m.The initial ground stop ended around 4:18 p.m., and a ground delay was put in place until at least 7:29 p.m., according to the FAA National Airspace System Status. This caused departures to the airport to be delayed by just under two hours.Pinpoint Weather Meteorologist Jessica Lebel said the wind was gusting up to 36 mph at DIA Wednesday afternoon. DENVER (KDVR) — Colorado's three largest metropolitan areas are ranked among the top 25 worst places in the nation for ozone pollution, according to a new report from the American Lung Association.Denver-Aurora ranked 6th, Fort Collins ranked 15th and Colorado Springs ranked 20th on the list, which is released annually in the association's State of the Air Report."While ozone pollution in all three cities got worse compared with last year’s report, Colorado Springs experienced a significant increase in the number of unhealthy ozone days, making it a new addition to the list this year," according to a Wednesday release from the American Lung Association.This year's report, released Wednesday, covers 2019-21.
