(KRON) -- An elderly woman and a young boy were found dead inside a home in San Jose on Friday, according to the San Jose Police Department. San Jose police officers described the grisly double homicide scene as traumatizing. The woman and boy had been stabbed. Both victims were declared dead at the scene. Officers were initially called to the Parkmore Avenue home in Vista apartment complex at 10:06 a.m. on Friday to conduct a welfare check, SJPD Sgt. Steve Aponte said. "Upon arrival it was very clear that there was a crime scene. There was an elderly female victim, as well as a juvenile victim," Aponte said. "This type of loss can be traumatic. We are seeking justice," Aponte told reporters at a news conference Monday. The boy was reportedly just six years old. "The motive and circumstances of this incident are still under investigation," Aponte said. Aponte declined to tell reporters if a suspect has been identified or apprehended.Detectives are asking the public for additional ev...Penguins’ Kyle Dubas says confidence in those around him led him to take on additional role as GM

Kyle Dubas spent his first two months as the Pittsburgh Penguins director of hockey operations watching the staff around him adjust almost seamlessly to a new work environment. So seamlessly, it turned out, that Dubas feared any more change would affect the synergy he’s felt since joining the club on June 1. So rather than add another external voice to the mix, he opted to take on the role of general manager last week, confident there are enough checks and balances around him to put the Penguins in a position to return to contention in a crowded Eastern Conference.Pittsburgh’s revamped front office included promoting Andy Saucier to director of professional personnel, naming former NHL defenseman Trevor Daley and U.S. women’s national hockey team icon Amanda Kessel as special assistants and shifting Erik Heasley’s duties to director of minor league and amateur scouting operations. The 37-year-old Dubas called the workflow during a very busy offseason that inclu...MLB suspends Chicago’s Tim Anderson 6 games, Cleveland’s José Ramírez 3 for fighting

Families of the victims killed at Parkland’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School back in 2018 say a reenactment of the shooting clearly demonstrated that a former school resource officer could have heard and determined the origins of the gunshots. On Friday, gunfire erupted again at the school as part of the reenactment by ballistics experts of the massacre that left 14 students and three staff members dead. The reenactment was part of a civil lawsuit by the victims’ families and the wounded that accuses the Broward County deputy assigned to the school, Scot Peterson, of failing in his duty to protect them and their loved ones. Peterson, who was acquitted at a criminal trial in June, has said that because of echoes he could not pinpoint the shooter’s location. However, David Brill, an attorney representing the families, said the reenactment debunks that notion.“There is no dispute, none, zero, that the shots were clearly audible to Peterson,” sai...Crews battle fire across three triple-deckers in Dorchester
