JERUSALEM (AP) — Yemen’s Houthi rebels seized an Israeli-linked cargo ship in a crucial Red Sea shipping route on Sunday, officials said, taking over two dozen crew members hostage and raising fears that regional tensions heightened over the Israel-Hamas war were playing out on a new maritime front. The Iran-backed Houthi rebels said they hijacked the ship over its connection to Israel and took the crew as hostages. The group warned that it would continue to target ships in international waters that were linked to or owned by Israelis until the end of Israel’s campaign against Gaza’s Hamas rulers. “All ships belonging to the Israeli enemy or that deal with it will become legitimate targets,” the Houthis said. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office had blamed the Houthis for the attack on the Bahamas-flagged Galaxy Leader, a vehicle carrier affiliated with an Israeli billionaire. It said the 25 crew members had a range of nationalities, including B...Weekend Break: Junior Chefs Kitchen

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) -- Thanksgiving is a week away, and millions of Americans are heading to the grocery stores to prepare for their feasts on that Thursday. Thanksgiving always falls on the fourth Thursday of November -- but why?According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, we don't know the actual day on which the Pilgrims celebrated the first Thanksgiving in 1621, though we know it took place in mid-October instead of November. The Old Almanac states that beginning in 1668, Nov. 25 was the "legal" day of Thanksgiving, but that only lasted five years. Thanksgiving shutdown sets up nightmare scenario for travels According to the Old Almanac, Thursday may have been designated "to distance the event from the Sabbath day among the Puritan colonists." It also states that Thursday was also a lecture day in New England and ministers would give sermons every Thursday afternoon. Then, during George Washington's first term as president, he proclaimed Thursday, Nov. 26, 1789, as a "Day of Publick...Wild suffer overtime loss to Maple Leafs in Sweden

STOCKHOLM — The Wild flew across the Atlantic Ocean looking for four points. They left with half of that. That’s one way to look at their two games in the NHL Global Series.“We came here for the results, and that’s all that matters,” defenseman Marcus Johansson said. “We didn’t get the results we wanted.”No, they didn’t.The Wild lost Sunday’s game to the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 in overtime in the final game at Avicii Arena in Stockholm after William Nylander took the puck coast to coast and beat Johansson and then goalie Marc-Andre Fleury. But the other way to look at it, a more positive spin that some of his teammates projected after the game, is that those two points very easily could have been one had the Wild not clawed their way back from a two-goal deficit Sunday with some solid play in the third period, or could have easily been four.In less than three minutes, the Wild (5-8-4) erased a 3-1 deficit in the third period, using goals from defenseman Jake Middleton and forward Mat...LGBTQ+ advocates say work remains as Colorado Springs marks anniversary of Club Q attack

COLORADO SPRINGS — After the mass shooting last November at an LGBTQ+ nightclub in Colorado Springs that turned a drag queen’s birthday celebration into a massacre, the conservative community was forced to reckon with its reputation for being unwelcoming to gay, lesbian and transgender people. What motivated the shooter, who didn’t grow up in Colorado Springs and is now serving life in prison, may never be known. But since the attack that killed five people, wounded 17 others and shattered the sense of safety at Club Q, which served as a refuge for the city’s LGBTQ+ community, Colorado Springs has taken steps to reshape itself as inclusive and welcoming.A new LGBTQ+ resource center is set to open in the city, where an independent candidate surprisingly defeated a longtime Republican officeholder to become the first Black mayor of the city of roughly 480,000 people. And the owners of Club Q, which has been shuttered since the Nov. 19, 2022, attack, plan to build a memorial and r...Thousands of travelers descend upon LAX as Thanksgiving travel ramps up

Millions of Americans are expected to take to the skies before Thanksgiving, and airport security officials believe that the 2023 holiday travel season could be the busiest on record. Employees at Los Angeles International Airport’s Terminal 7 told KTLA 5’s Annie Rose Ramos that this weekend is turning out not to be a “normal” one when it comes to passenger volume. Travelers – some of whom forked over several hundreds of dollars for their tickets – should expect to endure long security lines and, in some cases, rushed check-ins.“[Ticket prices] were high, like 700 or 800 dollars,” one traveler said on Sunday. That woman, who was leaving LAX for Washington, DC, said that she and her family took steps to make sure their airport experience was as smooth as possible by reserving their parking spot ahead of time and checking in online. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class debuted in 1993 as the manufacturer’s entry-level sedan. Now 30 years old, the C class is no longer the cheapest in the lineup. It’s a go-to level for many brand loyalists and it’s expanded. The newbie is the Mercedes-AMG C 43. Eighteen-inch wheels are standard, but 19 and 20-inch wheels are optional. The interior includes AMG sport seats with synthetic leather and microfiber upholstery.
