Police: Man used fake gun to steal dog food from Maplewood Schnucks MAPLEWOOD, Mo. - A man is behind bars after he reportedly used a fake gun to steal dog food from a Maplewood Schnucks store. Prosecutors have charged Gerold Hopkins, 42, with one count of first-degree robbery in the case. The robbery happened on June 10 at the Schnucks location in the 7300 block of Manchester Road. Records: Man accused of scamming St. Louis slots is cross-country cheater The store manager told police that Hopkins walked inside the store, picked up a bag of dog food and started walking toward the parking lot with the intention of stealing it. The manager reportedly confronted Hopkins and told him to return the item and leave. After that, Hopkins allegedly told the manager he had a gun and pulled out what the manager initially believed was one. He got away with the dog food and started taking off on a bicycle. Fatal hit-and-run incident in Jurupa Valley leaves one person dead One person is dead after a fatal hit-and-run crash in Jurupa Valley, officials announced on Saturday.Deputies from the Riverside Sheriff’s Jurupa Valley Station responded to the scene, located at Market Street and 24th Street in Jurupa Valley, at approximately 2:35 a.m.Deputies and Cal Fire personnel found the unidentified victim on the northbound shoulder of Market Street. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials won’t publicly identify the person until their next of kin is notified about the tragic incident.  The Jurupa Valley Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating the fatal hit and run. No suspect is currently in custody and officials are unsure at this time if alcohol or drugs played a part in the deadly collision. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to call Deputy Petersen at the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station at 951-955-2600.

Mom and 12-year-old daughter dead in Tesla crash in Santa Clara (KRON) -- A 44 year-old mother and her 12-year-old daughter died after their Tesla collided with a tree Wednesday afternoon. The car engulfed in flames following the collision which caused delays in Santa Clara, according to the City of Santa Clara. The crash happened in the northbound lanes of San Tomas Expressway between Forbes Avenue and Homestead Road. Local police and fire departments are on the scene. By 4:30, the southbound lanes of San Tomas Expressway were reopened.
