SANTA ROSA, Calif. (KRON) – A school community is confronting a crisis nearly one week after a stabbing at a Santa Rosa high school. Jayden Pienta, 16, died after he was stabbed inside an art classroom at Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa. His family, along with other parents and students, say the campus needs more security. In response, the school district held a public forum Tuesday night. There was a large showing at this public forum, with parents and students telling KRON4 they really hope this meeting can lead to substantial change and create a safer environment for everyone. SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (KRON) -- An elderly woman in South San Francisco was scammed out of $22,000, according to the city's police department. The victim was targeted via phone call from someone claiming to be involved in a hit-and-run crash with the victim's son. The caller told the victim that a woman suffered a miscarriage as a result of the crash and the son owed them money, SSFPD said. The victim offered money and two men showed up at her home twice to collect it. FAIRFIELD, Calif. (KRON) -- The burned remains of a missing woman suspected to have been murdered by her husband have been found in Fresno County, according to the Fairfield Police Department. SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- San Francisco is pondering an end date for the city's "COVID-19 State of Emergency," and the move would terminate existing bans on home eviction for COVID-related hardship.San Francisco Supervisor Dean Preston introduced legislation Tuesday for a 60-day extension that would allow for a "wind-down period" protecting renters from losing their homes overnight. OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) -- An Alameda County firefighter appeared in federal court on Tuesday to face child pornography charges, according to the United States Department of Justice. Charles Johnathen Harris, 42, of Coulterville, CA was indicted on March 2.A federal grand jury alleged that Harris had child pornography on his iPhone, including images of prepubescent children. The case was initiated after authorities were given a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (KRON) -- A man who worked with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Oakland was arrested in January on child pornography charges, according to the Walnut Creek Police Department . Woman fatally shot in Daly City, one man arrested Jeremiah York, 24, was arrested on suspicion of possessing and sharing child pornography. He was booked into the Walnut Creek PD Jail at the time of his arrest and later released from the station. York was hired by the Diocese of Oakland in June of 2021 and remained employed there until January. He worked with preparations and plannings, according to the Oakland Diocese.
